This year, Easter Sunday falls on March 31st. Easter is a Christian culture holiday that commemorates the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, it was described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day of his burial following his crucifixion by the Romans at Calvary c. 30 AD. Though is it considered a religious holiday like many modern traditions are rooted in pre- Christian practices. Easter originated as an ancient pagan celebration of the spring equinox, which takes place on March 19th to mark the first day of spring. Easer does not fall on a fixed date, the is based on a Gregorian Calendar system. So, Easter is set for the first Sunday after a full moon occurs on or after the spring equinox. The spring equinox marks the moment when the sun sits directly over the Earth's equator as it heads northward. The Northern and Southern Hemispheres share the sun's rays equally at the equinox, and night and day are roughly the same length. There are many ways that people celebrate Easter, some including attending church services, exchanged gifts, having festive meals with family and friends, and having an easter egg hunt. easter celebrates the defeat of death and the hope of salvation.
