When the top Journalism Editor, Kegan Aamold, called for a “Billy Vue Interview” as one of the topics of the month, I had no other option than to pick it up.
Billy Vue is a senior at Sultan High School that works towards bettering himself every day. He, along with many others, is part of the Journalism class that creates the school yearbook and runs the school newspaper and news website. Specifically, Billy works on the news website portion of the class, as well as continuing to submit his 2 articles per month.
What might you find on the news website you ask? School news including academics, sports, events, and more, as well as the students' coverage on global news.
Getting back on track, I actually had the chance sit down with Billy, 1 on 1. When asked about his year so far, he replied, “It’s okay so far. Once we get going, I can tell it’s going to be another great year”. He is indeed right. Even though we aren’t even a quarter of the way through the year, it is shaping up to be another great year at Sultan High School.
“How is your Senior year (so far) different compared to your other years at Sultan?”, we asked him.
“Lots of things are new for me this year, but a lot is also the same, “he started, “I have a couple new classes, such as Journalism, which is completely new to me, and I have a couple of new teachers, like Mrs. Brady, and Mr. Hubbard.”.
It’s always great to try new things and meet new teachers, even if it is your last year here at Sultan High School. Billy’s role in Journalism involves creating and maintaining the website that holds all the articles written by the students.
“We’re just getting started,” Billy said, “Getting the website redesigned and up and running is the most important thing that I need to do right now,”.
As you may know, Journalism is a fairly new class that was introduced only a few years ago. With nothing to work with at the beginning, the amazing students have built it up into a small, local school newspaper.
As of now, Billy continues to do his best in all his classes and work towards improving the Journalism class.
